Easy Homemade Suji (Semolina) Syrup Cake Recipe
Ingredients
Eggs-5
Sugar-1 Cup
Yogurt-4tbsp
Oil-1/4 Cup
Baking Powder-1tbsp
Suji (Semolina)-1 Cup
Coconut Crushed-1/2 Cup
Water-1/2 Cup
Lemon Juice- A few Drops
Directions
- In a bowl, add five eggs and beat with a mixer. Gradually add 3/4 cup sugar to the egg mixture and blend until it becomes fluffy. Add oil and beat until well combined, then add yogurt and baking powder, beating until smooth. Next, add semolina and crushed coconut, blending until the mixture becomes foamy.
- Preheat the oven to 355°F and bake for 30–35 minutes.
- For the Syrup:
- In a saucepan, combine 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, and a few drops of lemon juice. Boil for about 10 minutes, ensuring the syrup stays thin and watery, not thick. The lemon juice prevents the sugar from sticking to the pan.
- After 35 minutes, check the cake by inserting a wooden stick. If it comes out dry, not wet or greasy, the cake is ready. Cut the cake Into slices and pour the syrup over the cake. Sprinkle your choice of nuts over the cake.
